Campaigning work of Czech section of REVOLUTION, April - May 2008
Czech section of REVO has been active in two main areas of struggle in April. Firstly, we have continued with campaign againsts US radar base, which is planned to be build in Czech republic. Secondly, we have been doing antifascist work – we were mobilising at antifascist actions on May Day. Antifascism is becoming more and more important in Czech republic, because fascists are growing now for more than a year. However, it is difficult for us to participate intervene at antifascist actions because they are often organised by anarchists and Czech anarchists are very sectarian towards non-anarchist left. Nevertheless, we are trying to do it, because we alone (or in a united front with other left organisations) do not have yet the power to mobilise enough people to make effective blocade of fascist action.
In April we also participated at march on support of squatting, which was quite big on Czech conditions (more than 500 people). (report in Czech: http://revo.revoluce.info/index.php?id=25,184,0,0,1,0)
On May Day morning we, traditionally, did stall at Czech CP meeting and then we went to antifascist march and then to festival against racism, both organised by anarchists. We have a leaflet there, in which we presented revolutionary tactics how to fight fascism (the leaflet in Czech: http://revo.revoluce.info/index.php?id=28,185,0,0,1,0)
In May there are going to be some actions against US military base, which we are going to intervene into, and we also hope that there will be some trade-union demonstrations against governmental neoliberal reforms.
